(Different episodes between the main character Sung-min and his mother concerning thermal underwear make up the plot of this film. The first set of thermals is pink, the ones Sung-min peed in during his uncle's funeral when he was little. The old and yellowish thermals, Sung-min refused to wear during adolescence in order to avoid ridicule from classmates. His lucky thermals protect him during the college entrance exam. All these thermals stay with him like a mother's love during difficult and lonely periods such as when he’s in the army and when his girlfriend dumps him.)연출의도. 어머니 얘기를 하고 싶었다. 한번쯤 내복을 입어본 사람이라면 누구나 공감할 수 있는 우리들의 어머니 얘기를. 추운 겨울이면 그 무엇보다 따뜻하고 든든하지만, 때론 거추장스럽고 부끄럽게 느껴지기도 했던 누런 내복 같은 우리들의 어머니. 내가 느꼈던 어머니의 존재와 사랑을 다른 사람들과 공유할 수 있다면 내가 영화를 하려 한다는 사실이 더없이 뿌듯하고 행복할 것 같다. (Thermals are underwear garments worn in the winter, especially common in Korea. I wanted to talk about my mother. Those things about Mother that everyone who has ever worn thermals can sympathize with In the cold winter, thermals are nice and warm but when its not so cold, they just feel bulky and even embarrassing just like mother.
